Was looking for something to watch on the TV that would pull me out of this “after the holiday funk” that has been fucking with me this year, more than usual. It is becoming more and more of a challenge to find good quality comedy based TV shows, even having a decent satellite package that comes with a shit load of channels. I can’t imagine not having the Comedy Channel, sometimes that is all there is that isn’t all about crimes and violence or some type of horrible live changing event, least I forget – all the Reality Shows that have exploded all over the air waves. I love a good laugh so I was totally caught off guard when I stumbled onto a show that looked vaguely familiar, which turned out to be the new “Drew Carey’s Improv-A-Ganza” show that is now on GSN.
Back in October I was posting about how I missed the old Drew Carey show “Whose Line Is It Anyway” and all of a sudden this show pops up. I thought that was pretty fucking cool. From what I understand the show premiered back in April, but I hadn’t heard a word about it until I stumbled onto by accident just a week or so ago.
Drew Carey is managing to bring together so many of the “favorite improv actors” such as Kathy Kinney, Ryan Stiles, Jeff Davis, Chip Esten, Greg Proops, Brad Sherwood, Colin Mochrie and Jonathan Mangum. I’m sure we will be seeing Wayne Brady, or at least I’m hoping we will, he was the best out of the whole lot of them.
My next job interview is in downtown DC and I need a plan for getting around. Normally I would drive my own car and just find a parking garage near the building. But I’m going to fly up and I think I can get by without the hassle of renting and parking a car. The DC Metroliner has great, regular service all throughout the Northern Virginia/DC/Suburban Maryland area. So if I find a good map and book a hotel near a Metro line, I’ll skip getting a car this trip, that will save a butt load of money right there. I just hope the weather isn’t too shitty for those two days that I’ll be dealing with public transportation.
One of the areas that I would be interested in living is the Washington DC/Maryland/Virginia area. It is a vital, dynamic, exciting place to live and work. It is close to all types of bodies of water, beautiful beaches and the Blue Ridge Mountains are fucking magnificent. There was a recent survey that states this area is the hottest area for young, affluent singles. So I decided to try a Maryland chat site and see if there was anyone interesting to talk to, and perhaps meet when I go for my job interview in Rockville, Maryland next week. Wish me luck, this could be just what I’ve been looking for.
Okay, I am fucking starving. I haven’t had much of an appetite lately, and it has taken it’s toll apparently. I have the most ginormous craving for steak and shrimp on the barby. I can see a trip to the Outback Steak House in my near future. As in tonight. I want a porterhouse steak, smothered in onions and some shrimp on the barby as an appetizer. The only problem, is that the Outback is always packed and I would prefer not to be rushed through my meal because they have a line outside.
That is really annoying actually. I suppose I could eat in the bar portion of the restaurant so I don’t have to hurry, but then I have to deal with the smokers while I am eating and that I do not want to do. It is a damned if I do and damned if I don’t situation. No matter though, I know that I am going to end up there anyway, so why complain about it. I want my steak and eat it too as they say. Well, they usually say that about cake, but whatever works right? Anyway, if anyone wants to join me tonight, give me a holler. Later gators.
I am officially jumping on the band wagon. I bought a Kindle Fire yesterday. I know that as a guy I am unusual in that I love to fucking read. I read just about anything I can get my hands on. So, I decided to buy the latest toy for reading. I can download tons of books and not clutter up my house and shelves. My sister also pointed out that I am saving lots of trees from destruction by buying the Kindle. Okay, well I will go with that, but it wasn’t my first reason for buying it. I really just didn’t have any room to put the books I buy in my house anymore.
All of my shelves are packed full. As a matter of fact, I am taking them to donate to Goodwill for others to enjoy. I have a really nice collection of books too. I will probably get rid of the paperback ones first and hold on to the hard cover ones as they are worth more money. I want to get a couple of them signed by the authors if they ever come to town for book signings. Especially my Clive Cussler’s. He is my favorite author after all.
I fucking love it. My boy Dale Earnhardt Jr. came in second at this weekends races. I am hoping for a win soon. He has consistently remained in the top ten, usually the top five, throughout the season so far. In points he is number two, right behind Greg Biffle. You have no idea how happy that makes me. He is definitely a fighter and is determined to win big. I am much happier this year with his pit crew and chief. They still need to work a few things out, but they are doing much better than last year.
I got tired of them running out of gas on the last lap last year. I can’t count how many races they could have actually won had they planned better gas wise. It’s irritating to see that over and over again, but not this year. They are just flat on it. His daddy would be very proud of him if he was still alive. I know that he is proud of him where ever he is, watching down on him. I really miss Dale Sr. though. I know that Nascar lost a living legend when that man died, but his son is carrying on tradition and racing with his fathers determination and style.
